Conqueror Freight Network’s June Newsletter for 2022 is now available for reading and downloading from the website. In this newsletter, the readers will find the details about Conqueror’s 9th Annual Meeting that will take place in Doha, Qatar, in February 2023. Additionally, there is a brief section on how participating in the in-person meeting will help the members to increase the scope and outreach of their businesses.

This edition of the newsletter covers the latest news from the network members in Penang, Barcelona, Genoa/Venice, Hangzhou, Ljubljana, and Chengdu. The network news section covers the news about Conqueror’s new online certificate and the announcement of the Essentials of Freight Forwarding course that starts exclusively for the network members from 15th September.

The industry news in focus is about the acquisition of Deutsche Afrika-Linien by container shipping giant Hapag Lloyd. CV Maragos International Forwarding PC, Conqueror member in Athens, Greece, is specializing in the normal staffing/un staffing and transhipments of difficult and valuable shipments from their warehouse. As said by Mr. Vlassis Maragos, the General Manager of CQR Athens, “Our team has become extremely adept at handling challenging and high-value items while maintaining cost-efficiency for the benefit of our clients.”

In the last month, they moved Porsche 911 racing cars each of which were valued at approximately €100k. They were also responsible for the movement to a Greek island of two oversize UASB reactors meant for biological cleaning valued at over €100k each. Apart from these high-value cargoes, they also transshipped heavy marble blocks of up to 28MT and made a purchase of 30 x 40 high cube SOC containers (with pipes and machinery) for transporting an entire construction project to West Africa.

Independent freight and logistics operators at first virtual forwarders conference- JC Trans Net

freight forwarders networkFreight and logistics is of course by definition the ultimate multinational business and as technology advances executives globally are becoming aware of the potential of international cooperation without the need for thousands of miles of air travel to formulate trade agreements. It was with this thought in mind that Antonio Torres first came up with the idea of what he calls a ‘Virtual Multinational’ paving the way for what he considers a new generation of networks which want to mobilize independent freight forwarders to work together as global ‘mega-forwarders.’

Last week however the members of this brainchild travelled to Thailand to meet their mutual partners in the flesh at the inaugural conference of Conqueror which Mr Torres says is the world’s first virtual freight network. Ninety members from forty different countries met in Phuket from the 23rd to 25th May as part of Conqueror’s target of setting up an exclusive ‘virtual branch’ in each of the 472 major cities in the 175 countries it has identified.
