Conqueror Itajai moves a cargo of two turbines from Brazil to Europe

The two turbines which weighed 20.29 tons in total were safely transported to the destination within just two and three days respectively

Quantum Logistics, Conqueror member in Itajai, Brazil, has recently handled the transportation of two turbines used in Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircrafts. One turbine which weighed 11 tons had a dimension of 500 x 325 x 309 cm while the second turbine weighing 9.29 tons measured 590 x 260 x 260 cm. The entire shipment which was sent out by air freight took a total of 5 days to reach the consignee in Europe.

In the words of Ms. Priscila Gasperi, the Global Operations and Partnerships Manager of Conqueror Itajai, “It was a time critical shipment, so it was challenging for the team to handle the operation from the point of loading to the arrival at the final destination for each cargo within 2 – 3 days. Our overseas team is adept at handling challenging air freight shipments which allowed us to conclude this project successfully and on time!”

Congratulations to Quantum Logistics Brazil for the impeccable handling of this project!

Complex shipment captured on film

CQR Itajai has undertaken an audacious operation during March and May of 2016, the team at Quantum Logistics have successfully coordinated the entire logistics process of a project cargo, all the way from Taiwan to Rio do Sul in Brazil. This is particularly challenging due to the additional 180km of land transportation from the port of discharge Itajai.

The core layout of the assignment consisted of partial vessel chartering, together with POL & POD handlings supervision, plus a sophisticated duty for the inland transport.

At final destination, the machinery (which was valued at millions of dollars) was passed to the consignee in perfect condition.

The Cargo details were as follows:

    • Total 3 cases, 169.5 ton and 362.71 m3,
    • Main piece weighing 156 ton and measuring 11.46m length / 4.69m width / 4.20m height

CQR Itajai is a winner at the 11th Transat Jacques Vabre

Back in November, we informed you that CQR Itajai had been nominated as the official logistics provider for the 11th Transat Jacques Vabre ocean race. On behalf of CQR Itajai, we would like to give you an update on how it went.

Hired by the organisers, Quantum successfully coordinated the entire logistics operation, including all the air and ocean shipments of the support materials for the event from France to Brazil, customs clearance, management of supplies and boats and inland transportation from port and airport to the ocean race village and back again.

At the end of the event the boats were returned to Lorient on board a break bulk ship in which the stowage happened by lashing and lifting the boats from seaside of the vessel directly on deck in a delicate counter board operation. To see how delicate, check out Quantum’s video!

In total, the team were responsible for 28 boats of all classes.
